Between 1985 and 1995 I worked full-time in the Fashion Industry as a
Designer, Technical Designer, Illustrator and Print Designer
1985-1990 I worked in a variety of apparel manufacturing companies as a full-time employee with most of the time spent at GFT, a multi-national fashion business that handles major international designers. My primary work at that time was with GFT's Emmanuel Ungaro line for the United States. During this time I travelled for several months a year to meet with designers, factories and suppliers around the world with most of my overseas time spent in Hong Kong, Paris and Florence.
1990-1995: Freelance. My primary clients were The Gap, Banana Republic and J. Crew. I worked in men's wear, women's wear and children's wear during this time with many of the jobs overlapping and extending for a year or more. I also designed prints and patterns for children's wear companies.
J. Crew: I designed a spring knitwear collection for women's wear. I also worked as a Technical Designer doing fittings and corrections for men's wear.
The Gap Kids: I worked as a Knitwear Pattern Designer as well as Technical Designer.
Banana Republic: I worked for men's wear as an Assistant Knitwear Designer with an emphasis on creating prints and patterns.
Banana Republic Women: Knitwear Technical Designer.
Banana Republic Men's Accessories: Technical Designer. I developed a detailed style of three-dimensional technical sketches to communicate construction and design details to non-English speaking factories overseas.
From 1995 to the present I have primarily freelanced from home. I work in web design, digital photography, retouching and digital design. This work included a freelance assignment for the Weekend section of the Washington Post. I also attended the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies and obtained a certificate in both Web Design and Web Development.
I served as official photographer for the summer retreat for St. Paul's Episcopal church in Charlottesville, VA in 2006 and 2007. In addition I have volunteered as a chaperone for winter ice skating classes at Poly Prep Lower School and the Brooklyn Free School since 2000 and volunteer frequently to read to elementary students as well as teaching math, art and geometry-related classes in the Brooklyn Free School. |
